Heavenly Body, where science meets holistic care in Barnsley

A lifelong passion for skin and beauty

Tracy Revitt has always been fascinated by skin and beauty. From a young age, she loved learning how the body works and how to care for it. Her early modelling experiences only strengthened this interest. “People couldn’t believe how much I knew about my skincare, even back then,” she recalls.

Tracy’s early curiosity has grown into a lifelong passion for skin, holistic health, and beauty. Today, she runs Heavenly Body in Barnsley, combining science with holistic care in every treatment.

Tailored treatments for every client

Tracy’s path to running her own salon grew gradually. She originally planned to go to art college, but a few years of drifting between jobs and modelling opened a new door. She trained as a hairdresser, then completed a cosmetic makeup course. That led to an advanced course with a Yorkshire Television makeup artist, giving her a deeper insight into skincare.

“I’ve always loved science and human biology,” she explains. “When I completed the makeup course, it delved into the science of the skin, fuelling my passion for it. I realised I wanted to focus on skin and wellbeing, starting with my Level 3 in beauty.”

To deepen her knowledge, Tracy completed an HND in Advanced Skin Science and Holistic Therapies. She learned how to create her own oils and creams, developing personalised treatments for each client. “Every client is different, and their needs can change week to week,” she says. “I pick oils and treatments that work for their body, mind, and emotions.”

Tracy’s treatments cover aromatherapy facials and massages, auricular acupuncture, Gua sha, reiki, and mindfulness sessions. She even uses reflex points on the hands and feet during body massage, tailoring each session to individual.

Tracy began offering non-surgical facelifts and skin peels long before they became popular. Then, around 17 years ago, she expanded further into aesthetics. Today, she also offers microneedling, dermaplaning, hydrodermabrasion, oxygen therapy, and light therapy.

“My philosophy is that science and holistic care work well together,” she explains. “Two people may ask for the same treatment, but their needs can be very different. One might be hormonal, and the other might have sun damage – each session is completely bespoke.”

Tracy also offers beauty services like lash lifts, lash and brow tinting, brow lamination, eyebrow shaping, and waxing. But she believes treatments are not just about looking good.

“I use Soil Association approved eco skincare products with environmentally friendly packaging wherever possible. A percentage of sales is donated to environmental causes like bee conservation, and it feels good to use and sell these products. Alongside my holistic product range, I also offer advanced cosmeceutical products that contain natural ingredients, giving clients the best of both worlds.”

Finding the perfect home at The Business Village

Tracy once ran a large salon with several staff and taught beauty and aromatherapy at her local college. While she enjoyed teaching the science, she preferred working directly with clients. She left teaching and ultimately went through a period of soul searching. “I realised I didn’t need the big salon or the extra rooms,” she says. “I wanted to focus on what I love and have more control over my work.”

It led to her downsizing and moving to The Business Village in 2022. “When I first visited, I walked in and there was a lovely, calming feel to the room,” she recalls. “It just felt right.”

The location works well for clients too, with a ground floor room that people with limited mobility can easily reach. There’s also a secure car park with plenty of space, making visits simple and stress-free. Because Saturdays are one of her busiest days, Tracy has found the 24/7 access a huge help. “The weekend access is great. My clients can park right outside, and it makes everything so much easier,” she adds.

Being part of The Business Village has given Tracy lots of new ideas too. She plans to start offering short lunchtime mindfulness sessions soon for other tenants. And she’ll be launching a newsletter with monthly treatment offers for everyone at The Business Village.

“I love the sense of community here,” she says. “Even though I’m often busy with clients, it’s great to be around other local businesses. I’d love to get to know more of them in the future.”

Putting clients first

Tracy approaches social media thoughtfully, seeing it as a way to connect with clients rather than the main focus of her business. “Some things simply can’t be captured on camera,” she explains. “The feeling of deep relaxation after a treatment, the sense of wellbeing, and the way skin looks and feels are experiences that go beyond an image.”

Because of this, she uses social media infrequently, mainly to provide a point of contact for clients. “My priority is always my clients. Time spent treating them is far more valuable than time spent posting online.”

Tracy’s extensive training underpins every treatment she offers. She holds a Level 3 in Beauty Therapy, a Level 4 in Aesthetics, an HND in Holistic Practice, and diplomas in Auricular Acupuncture and mindfulness.

“I continue to update my skills and knowledge as part of my commitment to providing the best care,” she says. “When considering new treatments, I conduct thorough research and only introduce those that complement my existing offer and benefit clients. All treatments are fully insured, giving peace of mind.”

Ambitions for the future

Tracy’s passion for mindfulness continues to grow. Her new sessions will cover topics like stress and procrastination, helping people relax and refocus during the day.

“Guided meditation is much easier than trying it on your own,” she explains. “I want people to see it’s not a just hippy thing. It has real benefits for the mind and body The science behind it is fascinating, and the science geek in me loves it.”

Her personal experience has developed her approach. “Mindfulness has helped me. I’ve had a few health problems and being more aware of my breathing and mind has made a big difference.”

Looking further ahead, Tracy dreams of taking her work on the road. “One day, I’d love to travel in a motorhome, sharing mindfulness and breath work around the world,” she says. “I want to help people while doing something I love.”

For now, Heavenly Body continues to thrive at The Business Village. Tracy values the location, the community, and the flexibility it offers. “I offer a free, no-obligation consultation for everyone,” she says. “I look at the whole person, not just the skin. That’s what makes my treatments different. But don’t take my word for it – come along and see if I’m a good fit for your needs.”
