Meet the Yorkshire business growing an ecosystem of fayres, exhibitions, and industry support.
The wedding world moves fast, yet Barnsley’s I Do Magazine has been a steady presence for sixteen years. The magazine comes out twice a year, but it’s just one part of the story. The team also runs exhibitions, hotel fayres, awards, and a growing network of trusted suppliers helping couples plan their wedding with confidence.
Founder Heather Tiffany knows the industry inside out. She’s watched trends come and go and seen how the market has evolved over the years. What started out as a wedding magazine has grown into a much bigger business.
Wedding exhibitions still lie at the heart of I Do. Across Yorkshire and the Midlands, the exhibitions welcome around 600 visitors on average in a single day, with 70 to 80 exhibitors showcasing their businesses. The exhibition halls buzz with energy as couples explore ideas and chat with suppliers. By the end of the day, everyone leaves inspired, with new contacts, ideas, and plans.
Alongside these large exhibitions, the team also runs hosted wedding fayres at hotels and venues. These are smaller events, but crucial for venues that require additional support. “We organise and run the wedding fayre for them,” Heather explains. “We book suppliers, promote the event, and handle all the finer details. It leaves the venue staff free to focus on talking to couples who may want to book a wedding with them.”
The team doesn’t stop at exhibitions and fayres either. Each year, they host the I Do Wedding Awards, a major highlight in the industry calendar. “Our awards are all about celebrating the best of the wedding industry,” Heather says. “Couples vote for their suppliers who have gone above and beyond on their wedding day, and the winners are those who consistently impress with glowing reviews. There’s a charitable side to the event too. Last year, we sold Willy Wonka-style chocolate bars on the day, raising over £3,000 for Lauren’s Legacy, a teenage cancer charity.”
Now, I Do Magazine is taking on one of the industry’s biggest challenges – trust. Weddings should be joyful occasions, but scams and unreliable suppliers often spoil the experience. To tackle this, Heather and her team have launched the Trusted Supplier Network in partnership with Exclusive Suppliers Ltd. The network is a comprehensively vetted directory of suppliers. It’s a big new venture, designed to give couples confidence and simplify the planning process.
Every supplier in the network must meet strict standards. They need insurance, at least a year in business, active social media channels, and strong recommendations from venues and their peers. “If we’re putting our name to saying they’re trusted, we have to make sure they’re legitimate,” Heather says.
The official launch for the Trusted Supplier Network is set for February 2026, with around 100 suppliers already signed up. With support secured from big names like Tide Bank and Worldpay, momentum is already building.
Heather runs I Do Magazine from The Business Village in Barnsley, which she describes as their ideal home. They’d been tenants before and always hoped to return. “We never really wanted to leave,” she shares. When a bigger office became available, they moved back. “It’s the boomerang effect,” she laughs.
Their office has room for three staff, plus meeting rooms and the Bistro close by. After working from a small, standalone building, The Business Village feels much less lonely. There’s always someone around, and help is easy to find. Reception collects parcels, IT support is on hand, and the whole place feels connected.
The extra space also allows them to expand the design and print side of the business. They own a large-format printer, first bought to create exhibition panels. It now prints banners, posters and even personalised dog artwork. Heather tested the idea using photos of her own dog and loved the result. Now she’s offering framed personalised prints for Business Village tenants.
What Heather values most about The Business Village is the community around them. “If anyone needs printing, they can come and talk to us,” she says. The support goes both ways too. If the team needs something, there’s usually another business nearby who can help.
Heather’s vision for I Do Magazine extends well beyond Yorkshire. “For us, it’s about becoming a bigger brand in the industry and having a wider reach,” she says. The Trusted Supplier Network is already helping, with suppliers joining from further reaching areas including Lincoln, Birmingham and Staffordshire. “It’s like a spider’s web,” Heather explains. “You start in one spot and then you just start branching out.”
After sixteen years, I Do Magazine has evolved far beyond its original format. The work now spans events, industry support, and creative services, all rooted in Yorkshire. And as the business continues to expand, Heather and her team are ready for whatever comes next.
